August review and now my goals
This month I haven't played much poker... I decided to go back to Pokerstars, so I created a new database on the HM2 only for Pokerstars and have the other one just for 888poker. For that reason I just played from time to time some small session to get a couple of stats on my opponent to hit September with all I've got ;)
Before I start talking about anything else I have some news, my official 888poker shirt arrived this week :D I was afraid it wasn't gonna fit but it work out just fine, now I'm feeling a little bad for not playing at their site but maybe later on we never know.
I've been reading The Mental Game of Poker and it's a hell of a book, almost done with it but I'll probably re-read the parts that I feel like doing. Now playing I keep a journal of my thoughts during play and hands that need to be reviewed later on, it helps me clear my mid a bit of poker to move on to the next day. I've never done that before but so far it's working for me. After finishing with that book I'll start with Small Stakes NL Poker 'cause after all the psychology stuff I feel like improving my game, then comes The Mental Game of Poker part 2.
I decided that I needed to create a couple of goals for my "poker career", that way is not playing for doing it but for a concrete objective. I've set a general goal for the rest of the year and some specific ones to do on each month as I move on, so here we go:
General goal: Move up stakes to 5NL or 10NL
It's way more realistic for me to move to 5NL this year but trying to push myself to 10NL it's not completely crazy. It will depend a lot on how things go with my bankroll and all. Right now I have 30 something, the idea is to get as high as 150 before moving to 5NL. When I get there I'll talk some more about that.
September's goals:
- Play at least 16 sessions (or more) with 6 (or more) fullring tables on Pokerstars, 2 or more hours of play.
As I did on 888poker, 4 sessions per week of 2NL. It's not hard at all, just need to focus on doing it and all will be just fine.
- Try to play 1k hands or more on every sessions, ideally go for 20k by the end of the month.
This is the tricky part. To get that volume of hands I could add more tables... But on my 20 inch screen more than 6 tables looks very small and the HUD looks very weird, can't really understand the numbers so I'll have to figure out something.
I'm also writing a small blog on the PokerSchool page but that's only for Pokerstars, I like to think that this one is more general.
Haven't post much on the forums of Pokerstars but I'm still reading them all the time, still watching training videos and trying to attended live sessions on Pokerschool. I have big expectations for September, hopefully everything will go just fine. I'll write later on to keep track of my progress, untill then see ya later ;)
gl on the tables!
