August review

Starting the post with a hopeful note, stating that August had more ups than downs which is a very much needed change of pace. Still, I didn't achieve all the goals I had set for the month with is always a letdown.

Once again I fell short on the number of hands. Missed several days of play either because of the internet or social commitments. I spent 2 weekends going to kid's birthday parties, including my son's. To be fair, after all the time locked inside the house it was nice for my son to have some fun with other kids. And we took all the precautions necessary given the situation with the virus.

The results were also not spectacular by any means. There's still a lot to work on but I've found some problems after paying attention to my last couple of sessions. Even if it doesn't seem like it, I've made some improvements in my red line. The problem is that after the first hour or so, and after a few bad beats I turn into a fit or fold kind of default strategy. Taking that into consideration, the first step is to realize when I'm starting to move into that strategy and take a pause for a few minutes to get my mind back in the game. That or quit if I've been playing for a while.

The BR is still over $100, with more than half of it bonuses. And I've made some withdrawals so it's not bad.

I finally have a stable internet connection at home which makes playing and life in general far easier. The biggest complaint is getting my wife to stop sending me memes all the time but it's manageable.

Somehow I managed to finish reading Everything is F*cked but didn't touch Poker Math that Matter. I seem to be dragging this month after month but I think I found a strategy that works to get things going. Since I also restarted the Unreal Course on Udemy and I've kept my streak alive on Duolingo, it's only fair to allocate time to move forward with the book during those hours of productivity

Ended up ordering just one book that should arrive in the next couple of weeks.

And now, let's talk about the goals for September.

  • Play 25k hands.
  • Make improvements on the red line.
  • Keep doing the Duolingo lessons on German.
  • Watch at least one video of the Unreal Course per day.
  • Continue reading Poker Math that Matter.
  • Workout at least 3 times per week.

I started doing a short workout in the morning which I plan to expand as I continue doing it. The whole sedentary life is just not working for me anymore.

And with that, I'll finish this post. The next update might come next week if there's anything important to discuss. If not, I'll write it in two weeks. Hoping to start this new month the right way, until next time!
